2015 RPSA Annual Conference - Expanding Horizons

Tuesday 21st April 2015 at Kents Hill Park Training & Conference Centre, Milton Keynes, MK7 6BZ

The 2015 RPSA annual conference that recently took place was held at Kents Hill Park Training and Conference Centre in Milton Keynes, which marked a turning point for the association.

The conference was titled “Expanding Horizons” and gave us an insight into the new objectives for the association, and the future for residential surveying, including the Home Condition Survey.

With over 70 people in attendance, including representatives from the likes of Countrywide and Landmark, delegates were given a full day of learning and networking with peers and colleagues. With talks from Fiona Haggett of RICS, Mike Clough of INNSA and Michael Holden, Head of Legal Sales at Landmark

Information Group, delegates gained information on a broad range of insightful topics.

The fact that RICS continue to exhibit and speak at the RPSA conferences proves that all the work the RPSA council are putting in is paying off and that RPSA and RICS are continuing to be seen as equal partners in the market place.

Austin Baggett and Hilary Grayson from SAVA gave their specialist advice on the future of surveying and how to handle insurance claims respectively, while RPSA member Charles Chalcraft provided a technical insight into thatched roofs and how to reduce the risk of fires in thatched buildings.

Initial feedback from the conference has been very positive, both in regards to speakers and the overall organisation of the event, with many commenting on the amount of knowledge gained from all speakers.

The conference closed with a presentation on the role of the PSSB, SAVA and RPSA in the market place and how each can improve the uptake of the Home Condition Survey.

Special thanks must go out to SAVA for taking up the gold sponsorship slot, along with bronze sponsors Countrywide and RICS. Their involvement helped out massively with the 2015 RPSA annual conference.
